They invited us back! This week, Greg Schlegel, Jane Guyer and Jake MacArthur are in New York City conducting training on building energy management and efficiency for the 2016 EDF Climate Corps fellows.  Our goal is to prepare fellows to identify opportunities to improve energy efficiency in the commercial space, perform financial analyses, become an effective change agent and create a lasting impact within their host organizations. In fact, Jake MacArthur (pictured below giving a tour of the Roosevelt Hotels AHU) is an alumni of the program who worked with REI.

SRP Top 3 Contributor; How do YOU save 7 Million kWh?

ETC Group was recognized by Salt River Project as a Top 3 Contributor; providing building energy savings for Custom Business Solutions (CBS) clients during FY16.  The savings from three projects alone totaled 7 million kWh (see GHG equivalents below)! As a Trade Ally for SRP's CBS program, ETC engineers provide energy engineering service to assess and identify energy improvements unique to client facilities and operations. Once improvements are implemented, projects with measurable savings qualify for a rebate!  .

Jane Guyer is known for ability to make energy efficiency solutions accessible and fun! Fortunately for Nevadans, she will be presenting at AEE Nevada's February lunches (Las Vegas 2/24 and Reno 2/25).  Topics include recommissioning and energy audits with an emphasis on low cost solutions.  This is a MUST for building operators and owners looking to improve their building's energy efficiency and save money.

Utah makes the USGBC's Top 10 list for LEED certification
Utah makes the USGBC's Top 10 list for LEED certification

This week the US Green Building Council (USGBC) issued their annual Top 10 list for states implementing Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED).  This is the first time Utah has made the list with 31 LEED certification projects that encompassed nearly 4. 5 million square feet of real estate incorporating sustainable features using less energy, water and reducing carbon emissions.

ETC Group is proud to implement energy efficiency in the largest buildings in the world; including numerous Las Vegas resort casinos.  On January 20th, ETC Group is sponsoring the AIA Las Vegas chapter meeting focused on how architects and visionaries transformed the once small desert town of 26,00 residents into an international tourist destination. As you would guess, the history is fascinating and centered on dynamic growth and development of casinos, hotels and entertainment venues lining the fabulous Las Vegas Strip.

Deer Valley Medical Center Central Plant Upgrade - ENR Southwest Merit Award

Honor Health's Deer Valley Medical Center was recognized with a Merit award for their Central Plant Upgrade (ENR Southwest - Small Project under $10 Million category).  According to Kitchell Construction (General Contractor), "We couldn't be more pleased.  This was a textbook case of what an exceptional project should look like from preconstruction through commissioning and turnover.

ETC Group receives Xcel Energy Trade Partner Award for Banner North Colorado Medical Center ReCx Project

As a result of Banner Health's commitment to reduce energy use at all of their facilities, ETC Group was selected (through Xcel Energy) to provide retro-commission (RCx) services at their North Colorado Medical Center (950,000 sf).  Xcel's RCx program provides rebates to customers for increasing the energy efficiency of their existing building operations through low- or no-cost improvements.  ETC Group engineers studied 5 medical campus buildings and identified improvements to air handler unit function; including deficiency correction, optimization strategies, and runtime reduction.

This week, Greg Schlegel, Jane Guyer and Jake MacArthur are in Chicago conducting training on building energy management and efficiency for the 2015 EDF Climate Corps fellows.   ETC Group was selected for this project due to our breadth of experience in energy engineering and our team's ability to make presentations engaging and interactive.  Our goal is to prepare fellows on how to identify opportunities to improve energy efficiency in commercial space, perform related financial analyses, become an effective change agent and create a lasting impact within their host organizations.

ETC Group supports BOMA Utah in the Kilowatt Crackdown Competition

Tracy Pierce is ETC Group's Marketing Coordinator and a member of BOMA Utah's Energy and Sustainability Committee.   She recently spoke at the Energy Star workshop assisting BOMA Utah Kilowatt Crackdown participants with building benchmarking and HVAC energy efficiency.  The E&S committee consists of vendor professionals (HVAC, lighting, water, landscape, janitorial, and solar/wind) committed to developing and promoting energy management, efficiency, and sustainability to positively impact the commercial real estate industry.
